1. Overview
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of weareexpanders.com, The Expansion Letter, the Expanders community, and The Inner Circle (together, "Expanders").
By using this website, subscribing to our emails, or joining the community, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, don't use them.
2. Who you are contracting with
Expansion Effect, a business based in the Republic of South Africa.
hello@weareexpanders.com
www.weareexpanders.com
Our full legal and ownership details are available on request — email us and we'll give them to you.
3. What Expanders is
Expanders is an education and community offering. Depending on what you join, it may include:
- On-demand classes and training material
- A members' community and discussion space
- Live sessions and Q&A calls
- Templates, checklists, prompts and tools
- The Expansion Letter, our free email newsletter
- The Inner Circle — a higher-touch coaching room, by application only
We may add, change, retire or reorganise material at any time. We aim to improve what's there, not to reduce it, but nothing in the library is guaranteed to stay available indefinitely.
4. What Expanders is not
Read this clause properly — it is the one that matters most.
4.1 Expanders is education. It is not a guarantee of any result, income, or business outcome. Nothing we publish, say on a call, or send by email is a promise that you will earn money.
4.2 Any figures, case studies or examples we share are what happened for a specific person in specific circumstances. They are not typical, not promised, and not a projection of what you will achieve. What you get out of this depends on your business, your market, your effort and factors outside anyone's control.
4.3 We do not provide financial, investment, legal, tax, accounting or medical advice. Nothing in Expanders is a substitute for advice from a professional who knows your circumstances and is accountable for it.
4.4 Business involves risk, including the risk of losing money you spend on advertising. You are responsible for your own decisions.
5. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract. If you join on behalf of a company, you confirm you are authorised to bind it.
6. Membership and access
6.1 Tiers. Expanders is offered on a free tier, which remains free for as long as we offer it, and on one or more paid tiers. What's included in each is described on the sales page and in the community itself at the time you join.
6.2 The community runs on Skool. The Expanders community is hosted on Skool, a third-party platform. Your use of it is also subject to Skool's own terms and privacy policy, and membership payments are processed by Skool. We are not responsible for Skool's availability, pricing, or changes to its platform.
6.3 Your seat is personal. Membership is for one named person. Do not share your login, and do not give access to anyone else.
6.4 The Inner Circle is a separate offering, by application, at a fee quoted to you at the time. Places are limited and we may decline any application without giving a reason.
6.5 We may remove or suspend your access, without refund, if you breach clause 8.
7. Fees, cancellation and refunds
7.1 Paid membership fees are charged in advance for each billing period, at the price and in the currency shown at the time you subscribe. Paid tiers are currently billed in US Dollars via Skool; the Inner Circle is quoted separately.
7.2 You may cancel at any time from within your Skool account. Cancellation stops future billing.
7.3 When you cancel, you keep access until the end of the billing period you have already paid for. After that, access to paid material ends.
7.4 Fees for a billing period that has already begun are not refundable, in whole or in part. This includes periods in which you did not use the community.
7.5 Annual memberships are not refunded pro-rata on cancellation.
7.6 If we ever offer a free trial, you will not be charged if you cancel before it ends. Once it ends and the first payment is taken, clauses 7.3 to 7.5 apply as normal.
7.7 We may change our prices. A price change will not affect a billing period you have already paid for, and we will give you notice before it applies to you.
7.8 If a payment fails and is not resolved, we may suspend access until it is.
8. How to behave in the community
Membership is a room full of other people's businesses. So:
- Be civil. No harassment, abuse, discrimination or personal attacks.
- Do not pitch or spam other members. Don't DM them to sell, and don't recruit them into anything.
- Do not share, resell, republish or repost our material outside the community, including in another community you belong to or run.
- Do not record, screen-capture or transcribe live sessions without our written permission.
- Do not use the community to promote anything illegal, misleading, or in breach of an advertising platform's own rules.
- What other members share about their businesses is confidential. Treat it that way.
Breaching this clause can get you removed without refund.
9. Intellectual property
9.1 Everything in Expanders — classes, videos, templates, documents, prompts, frameworks, the name, the logo and the site itself — belongs to us or to our licensors.
9.2 While your membership is active we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the material for your own business. That's it.
9.3 You may not copy, distribute, resell, sublicense, publish, or use our material to build or teach a competing product or programme.
9.4 You keep ownership of anything you post in the community. By posting it you give us permission to display it inside the community and to quote it in our marketing in an anonymised form. Tell us if you'd rather we didn't and we won't.
10. Third-party platforms
Expanders runs on platforms we do not control — Skool, Meta, Google, and others. Their rules, pricing, features and availability can change without warning, and accounts on them can be restricted or closed by the platform.
We teach how to work with those platforms. We cannot guarantee their behaviour, and we are not liable for what they do to your account.
11. Availability
We aim to keep everything available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Material may be unavailable during maintenance, or because of a failure at a provider we depend on.
12. Your own compliance
You are responsible for making sure what you do with what you learn is lawful where you operate — including advertising rules, consumer protection law, and data protection law such as POPIA or the GDPR. We will point out where we know a rule exists. That is not the same as clearing your business for compliance.
13. Liability
13.1 To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, revenue, data, goodwill or business opportunity, arising out of your use of Expanders.
13.2 Where we are found liable despite clause 13.1, our total liability is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 3 months before the claim arose.
13.3 We are not liable for loss caused by advertising spend, business decisions, or actions taken by a third-party platform.
13.4 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, POPIA, or any other law, that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Where a clause conflicts with such a right, that right prevails and the rest of these Terms continue to apply.
14. Privacy
We handle personal information as described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. The "last updated" date always reflects the current version. If a change materially affects your rights, we will give you notice by email or in the community. Continuing to use Expanders after that means you accept the change.
16. Assignment
We may cede, assign or transfer these Terms, and our rights and obligations under them, to any related business, entity or successor in title — including a company later incorporated to operate Expanders — on notice to you. Your rights under these Terms are not reduced by such a transfer. You may not transfer your membership or your rights under these Terms to anyone else.
17. General
17.1 If a clause is found unenforceable, the rest of these Terms stay in force.
17.2 If we don't enforce a right immediately, we haven't given it up.
17.3 These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and anything set out on the page where you purchased, are the whole agreement between us.
18. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the South African courts.
